I have been painting and exhibiting successfully since graduating from Dundee’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in the 90’s. My bold, colourful, unique paintings and mono prints achieve a balance with rhythmic harmonious compositions, strong iconography and beautiful bold colours. A strong personal iconography has evolved out of everyday objects and the nature around such as buildings, bikes, animals, leafs, flowers and landscape. I strive to simplify and stylise, using strong expressive colours and bold compositions. My works also explore my interest in texture by using unusual materials such as sand, plaster, dried leaves etc, and a lot of my inspiration comes from nature. Some of mywork involves the use of gold and silver leaf as I feel this gives a precious feel to each piece. I also produce handmade felt incorporating various materials. I am privileged that my work has been added to many private and public collections”     ALISON
