I sailed from the Industrial towns of Glasgow and Greenock, to ports up and down the West Coast and Western Isles which provided ample inspiration for many works. My paintings and sketches over the last forty years now form a chronicle of the various changes in shipping and alas, the sad decline of this once great industry.   I retired as an engineer on the Clyde tugs and my increased leisure time can be seen around the Cowal Peninsula painting and sketching.” Brian
